Success for County Artists in NJ State 2016 Senior Citizens’ Art Exhibit.
The NJ State Senior Citizens’ Art Exhibit celebrated its 50th year this past October. There were 264 works on display from all counties in the state. The exhibit was held at the Meadow Lakes Senior Living, located at 300 Meadow Lakes in East Windsor New Jersey 08520.
Artists qualified for the state event by winning their category in individual county events. In Sussex County this was held in August at the SCAHC gallery in Spring Street in Newton.
The state’s anniversary event proved a banner year for Sussex County as 11 Sussex winners were submitted to the state exhibit and six of the submitted artists gained individual awards. The awards were presented at the closing reception on October 28.

Carol Tremper of Newton, NJ won first place for her digital art, Centipedia. She explained how it was created. “The image features a centipede, found crossing our driveway, and Patitiri, a Greek port where many sailboats line the harbor. I used Photoshop to isolate the images from their backgrounds, duplicate, resize and manipulate them. Centipedia slowly emerged. It took many hours and many iterations to create a digital image like this, until I happen upon the final product. It is a montage but also involves painting with digital brushes and colors”.
